The delegation of Uzbekistan visited the Republic of Korea

On September 10-12, 2023, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov visited the Republic of Korea.

The delegation was received by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Han Duck-soo. The parties discussed the issues of further intensifying strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, strengthening economic ties, implementing previously reached agreements, as well as establishing close partnership between government departments of the two countries.

During the visitthe first meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and South Korea was held. This is a platform aimed at strengthening mutual trust and close partnership. The delegations headed by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries considered further acceleration of bilateral relations in various directions. Special attention was paid to enriching economic diplomacy with tangible results. The ministers signed the outcome document on the first meeting of the Strategic Dialogue.

Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ban Ki-moon. Special attention was paid to implementing joint projects, including within GGGI Uzbekistan Country Planning Framework for 2021-2025 and Strategy for Uzbekistan’s Transition to Green Economy for 2019-2030. The sides reviewed the results of ongoing and successful projects aimed at reducing GHG emissions, creating green jobs, increasing access to sustainable services, improving energy efficiency, mitigating the effects of climate change.

As part of the visit, Uzbekistan-Korean Business Forum was also organized in Seoul with the participation of more than 300 representatives of leading companies from both countries. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea welcomed all the participants. It was noted that joint projects worth about $13 billion are currently being implemented in Uzbekistan, the number of businesses operating in Uzbekistan with the participation of South Korean capital has doubled over the past 4 years.

The delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs also held separate negotiations with the heads of a number of the largest companies of the Republic of Korea.
