On the inter-MFA political consultations between Uzbekistan and UAE
On December 5, 2018, Abu Dhabi hosted the first round of inter-MFA political consultations.
At the meeting of delegations led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar emphasized mutual interest in further development of cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
A thorough review of the state of bilateral relations made it possible to focus on the existing significant unused potential and the most promising areas for increasing interaction.
A schedule of upcoming contacts at various levels for 2019 has been considered.
The Uzbek side confirmed that the Ambassador of the country to the United Arab Emirates will be appointed soon, which will allow to intensify bilateral contacts on a systematic basis, including between the business circles of the two countries. In this context, the parties substantively discussed the issues of expansion of mutual trade both in terms of the mutual supply of goods and services, as well as in the volume of trade.
As it was noted, the presence of direct flights between Uzbekistan and the UAE is also an important prerequisite for the development of tourist exchanges.
During the discussion of regional issues, the parties agreed to cooperate in implementing the provisions of the Tashkent Declaration of the International Conference on Afghanistan adopted on March 27, 2018, which was attended by the delegation of the United Arab Emirates led by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Mohammed Gargash.
Other issues on the common agenda were also considered during the consultations.
