On the meeting with the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime
On October 21, 2024, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan Oliver Stolpe.
Revitalizing the work with relevant agencies of Central Asian countries in the field of reducing the consumption and trade of illicit drugs, combating organized crime, preventing corruption and terrorism were on the agenda.
Mr. Stolpe highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan in developing a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, establishing long-term peace and stability in the country, as well as providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
The parties agreed to continue regular contacts and exchange views on current and future areas in the field of combating drug trafficking and crime.
