Political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and of Iran
On January 29, 2024, the MFA of Uzbekistan hosted the 7th round of Uzbekistan-Iran political consultations.
The delegations of the parties were headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhromjon Aloyev and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Bagheri Kani.
The parties exchanged views on the current state and priority areas for the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as interaction within multilateral organizations.
Special attention was paid to intensifying economic diplomacy. In this context, the sides underscored the importance of creating favorable conditions for mutual trade and the implementation of investment projects, strengthening direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries, and improving the mechanisms of interaction in the transport and communication sector.
The parties discussed the issues of developing inter-parliamentary dialogue, expanding the legal framework of bilateral relations, as well as the schedule of upcoming events at various levels.
Mutual interest was expressed in boosting cultural and humanitarian ties, in particular establishing partnerships between research institutions, organizing joint programs and projects in the fields of art, literature, and education.
During the negotiations regional and global agendas were also considered.
