President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov arrived in Tashkent on 5 November on the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

The President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan on 5-8 November on the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Cesar Maia, mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 3 November in Tashkent. The sides talked about development of cooperation between the two states.

1,440 contracts for purchase of internally produced equipment and joint production of import-replacing products worth a total of over UZS 1.4 trillion were signed at the National industrial fair and cooperation exchange.

The Fund “Forum of culture and art of Uzbekistan” and the British Council signed a Memorandum of understanding, which envisages expansion of cooperation in education, culture and arts in 2008-2010.

International exhibition devoted to the Beijing Olympic Games of 2008 is being held in Samarkand.

On the stance of the Republic of Uzbekistan with regard to reasonable use of water resources in Central Asia

The roundtable on the topic “Deepening trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and China: investment cooperation and trade” took place in Shanghai.

On October 28, 2008 the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information (UzACI) hosted a board meeting on the outcomes of work for over nine months of this year, social and economic directions of developing companies in the communication and information sphere, according to the Uzbekistan National News Agency.

As has been reported earlier, on October 27 this year the Republican Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange took off at the pavilions of Uzexpocenter in Tashkent.
