On 2 August 2012 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with a delegation of Hanoi People’s Council, which is on a three-day tour to Tashkent and headed by its chairwoman Ngo Thi Doan Than.

The sides noted the dynamic development of Uzbek-Vietname dialogue in different spheres with contentment.

The results of the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, the visit of the Prime-Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyễn Tấn Dũng to Uzbekistan in October 2011 have defined the main directions of bilateral interaction for the near future, including the  joint projects in the oil and gas sector.

A mutual interest in establishing mutually advantageous production lines with complete technological cycle of reprocessing and production of high-quality goods in such spheres as textiles, silk, leather, footwear, food, agriculture and pharmaceuticals was affirmed.

The prospects of establishing direct links between travel companies, as well as educational institutions of the two countries were also discussed during the talks.
