Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan Shiri Shiriev was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 15 June 2012.

The Ambassador handed a copy of his credentials.

During the conversation the parties discussed current state and prospective directions of bilateral cooperation.

It was underscored that the regular Uzbek-Turkmen dialogue at the highest level is the basis of onward and rapid development of the whole complex of bilateral relations.

Mutual trade is growing at a steady pace. The parties cooperate in the transport and communications spheres.

Great importance has been attached to the implementation of joint cooperation program in cultural and humanitarian spheres for 2011-2013, which promotes active exchanges between the two countries and peoples.

The parties also conferred on regional issues.
