The broad attraction of foreign investments is important in developing the economy, establishing the advanced and modernized companies.

The volume of assimilated foreign investments increased up to 58 percent and made up USD 1 billion last year. 76 of them are the direct foreign investments, according to the Uzbekistan National News Agency Russian-language website.

At the moment, many companies created jointly with foreign partners are operating in Uzbekistan. The joint projects are making profound contribution to the development of the country’s economy. One of such joint ventures is Orient Mebel, the practical result of cooperation of business people of Uzbekistan and Cyprus.

Orient Mebel has been operating since 2002 and producing the kitchen furniture and doors of various size and design which are manufactured based on the latest technologies. Uzbekistan has channeled 11 percent of investments into the company with another 89 percent invested by Cyprus.

The consumers are increasingly using the quality, comfortable and competitive products of the JV with 100 people to be employed in the company.

The volume of production is rising year by year. In 2007 Orient Mebel produced UZS 6.5 billion-worth of goods. This year the company intends to raise this indicator by UZS 8 to 10 billion.
