On March 5, 2008 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the Decree “On raising the amount of salary, pensions, stipends and social allowances”, the report by Uzbekistan National News Agency has said.

In keeping with the document, from April 1, 2008 the amount of salary for the employees of budget-funded institutions and organizations, stipends for students, pensions and social allowances for the retirees, elderly and the disabled, as well as not able-bodied citizens of the country shall be increased on average by 1.12 times.
