Central Election Commission registers elected deputies

The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan held a session on 4 January to consider the results of the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

The commission registered the deputies of the parliament’s lower house elected at the 27 December elections by voters and the conference of the Ecological Movement.

The elections were held in 135 election districts. In 99 districts, 4 candidates fought for one deputy seat, and in 36 districts 3 candidates.

A total of 17,215,700 people were included in the eligible voters’ lists, of which over 15,108,000 participated, which is 87.8%.

In Karakalpakstan voters turnout made up 90.9%, in Andijan region 88.9%, in Bukhara 87.1%, in Jizzakh 89.8%, in Navoi 88.3%, in Namangan 87.4%, in Samarkand 89.3%, in Syrdarya 91.4%, in Surkhandarya 89.1%, in Tashkent region 88.1%, in Ferghana 85.8%, in Khorezm 88.3%, in Kashkadarya 88.1% and in the city of Tashkent 81.9%.

In 96 districts, the deputies were elected, including 33 from the Liberal Democratic Party, 25 from the Milliy Tiklanish democratic party, 22 from People’s Democratic Party and 16 from Adolat social democratic party. 19 deputies or 19.8% are women. Besides, 15 deputies were elected by the conference of the Ecological Movement.

Because none of the candidates received more than 50% of votes in 39 election districts, the Central Election Commission set the second round of the elections for 10 January.
