A contest on the topic “Dear Tashkent is 2200 years old” was held by the Head department of public education of the city of Tashkent, the Uzbekistan National News Agency reported.

On April 2, 2008 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the Resolution “On preparing and holding the 2200th anniversary jubilee of the city of Tashkent”, the report by Uzbekistan National News Agency has said.

One of the largest events dedicated to the 2200th anniversary of the city of Tashkent – capital of Uzbekistan became the business-forum “Economic and investment potential of Tashkent”, the national news agencies reported.

The festival of museums of Uzbekistan timed to the 2200th anniversary of the city of Tashkent took off at the hall of the Exhibition of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan National News Agency reported.

Institute of History of Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan along with the Women’s Committee of Tashkent held the scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 2200th anniversary of the city of Tashkent, according to the agencies.
