President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov participated in the celebrations of the 2000th anniversary of the city of Margilan on 7 September.

Upon the initiative of the Ferghana Province municipality and local department of the Republican Center of Spirituality a number of books dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Marghilan has been published, the Uzbekistan National News Agency reported.

A press conference for the representatives of mass media dedicated to the preparations to hold the Sixth International Music Festival “Sharq taronalari” and the 2750th anniversary of Samarkand was held at the main square of the city in Registan, the Narodnoye slovo newspaper reported.
